September 23, 2016

Chris Golden of The Oak Ridge Boys and Sherry Anne

From 7:00PM to 11:59PM

Chris Golden, long-time member of The Oak Ridge Boys of country music fame, will visit Camden, NY, on Friday, September 23 for a 7:00 pm concert with special guest national recording artist Sherry Anne at Camden Wesleyan Church, 101 Main Street. Golden is the 2016 Crossover Artist of the Year with Christian Voice Magazine. Sherry Anne is a Singing News Fan Awards Top 10 Favorite New Artist nominee for 2016. Golden, known for his number 1 hit song ‘A Different Light’ and his album ‘Sunday Shoes,’ was on the Southern gospel music circuit by age 15. The week he graduated high school, he started touring The Boys Band that had a Billboard Hot 100 pop hit for eight weeks. At 18, he joined the Canadian country group Cedar Creek and charted Top 10. At 19, Golden made his lead vocal debut on the popular tv show Hee Haw. In his 20s and 30s, Chris fronted country rock band The Goldens with his brother Rusty. The duo had several chart singles on CBS and Capital Records. In 1995, Chris began playing guitar, mandolin, harmonica, keyboards and drums with The Oak Ridge Boys, sharing the stage with his father William Lee Golden. When a stranger reminded Chris of the divine source of his talent, Chris says, ‘After 17 years with The Oak Ridge Boys, I finally found myself. . . (and I am now) on a solo journey playing and singing for The One who gave me the gift. Each opportunity and invitation to sing my story is an answer to a prayer.” His latest album is titled ‘Less of Me.’ Sherry Anne, born with a bilateral hearing and speech impairment, will open the September 23 concert with her elegant voice that perfectly blends a passion for Southern gospel, R and B, country and blues music with her deep faith. She has recorded Southern Gospel, Contemporary, Country, and Christmas CDs produced by Academy of Country Music Award winner Gordon Mote, Gaither Homecoming Friend Woody Wright, Southern Gospel Hall of Famer Nick Bruno, and Tony Griffith of The Griffith Family. Her latest radio single ‘To Be Forgiven’ made the National Top 80 Southern Gospel Chart published by The Singing News. She will be singing at the National Quartet Convention and appearing at Dollywood in late September. The September 23 concert is free admission; a free will offering will be invited. CDs by Chris Golden and by Sherry Anne will be available for purchase at the event. Doors open at 6:00 pm.
