From 1:00PM to 3:30PM

The annual walk, to raise funds to support agencies in the Rome area that provide services to families in our community who are struggling to find food, shelter and employment. In previous years money was raised for this purpose under the umbrella of Church World Service (CWS) as a CROP Walk. The organizational committee cut ties with CWS because its rules allowed only 25% of the money raised by the Walk to benefit the local community. Anyone who wishes to walk can join a team at their church, school or organization. If your group does not have a team, start one and join the new recruits among Birnie Bus and Walmart!

For donations, please make your check to First Presbyterian Church and mark it for Hunger Walk. If you would like to give online, go to www.firstpresrome.com and click on the “Give Now” button, then choose Hunger Walk in the fund selection box. 90% of the funds raised will be divided equally between the following agencies and programs: Rome Salvation Army, Loaves & Fishes Soup Kitchen, Rome Catholic Charities, In Mission of the Christ Child (St. Peter’s Catholic Church), Foothills Rural Ministry (Holland Patent), and St. Joseph’s Food Pantry (Lee Center). A 10% donation to CWS will be made for national and global disaster relief efforts.

Softball Tournament and Chicken BBQ. Softball tournament starts at 8 am. Chicken BBQ from Noon til sold out. Tickets are $10 includes 1/2 chicken, beans, potato or salad, and roll. Games, raffles, Chinese Auction and more! Salibury Volunteer Firefighter Park, 2549 Route 29, Salisbury.
